Adella Buss

Artist Bio

Adella Lei Buss is a local artist who was born in Honolulu. She received her MFA from the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa and taught at Kapiolani Community College and the Honolulu Museum of Art. Her work can be found in private collections, the Honolulu Museum of Art, and the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts.

Artist Statement

Assemic writing resembles cursive writing but has no actual words or literal meaning. It is purely emotive mark-making going directly to the original space and time of its creation. Seeing for me is often indeterminate. Touch and movement are more immediate.
