Artist Bio

Rochelle was born and raised in Hawaii. She received a Bachelor of Art degree from Mills College in Oakland California where she also did post graduate work in Art Education. She worked for various publishing, graphic design and advertising companies in California before returning to Honolulu where she currently teaches ceramic hand building classes. As a ceramic artist she has participated in many solo, group and juried exhibitions held throughout the U.S. and Asia. Rochelle's work can be found in galleries Oahu, the Honolulu Museum of Art, Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts, and private collections throughout the U.S., Asia, and Europe.

Artist Statement and Creative Process

I find inspiration in the flora and fauna of Hawaii as well as the legends, folktales, and mythology of Hawaiian and Asian cultures. I enjoy hand building hollow forms where I can shape and manipulate the sculpture.
