Sanit Khewhok
Artist Bio
Sanit Khewhok is a painter, sculptor, curator, conservator, and art restorer who has been an active member of the Honolulu art community since 1986. He was born in Trang, Thailand, in 1944. After graduating from Silpakorn University in Bangkok in 1970 he received a four-year scholarship to study in Rome, Italy, at the Academy of Fine Arts where he graduated in 1975 with a master's degree in mural painting and conservation. After working at Bangkok's National Gallery as Curator of Western Art from 1978–1986, he worked as Chief Conservator and Collections Manager at The Contemporary Museum in Makiki from 1988–2008. He is currently Curator of the Hawai'i Pacific University Art Gallery, Hawaii Loa Campus, and shows his work at Cedar Street Galleries. He has exhibited internationally, received numerous awards, and in 2010 was the recipient of the Catherine E.B. Cox Award for Excellence in the Visual Arts at the Honolulu Academy of Arts.
