Artist Statement

I am fortunate to live an artful life, in love and beauty. As a teaching artist, I make pots, striving to exemplify craftsmanship, design, innovation, and studio habits.

When making pots, it is best for me to set aside the weight of history and be of no-thoughts. I make heirlooms that are used every day and feel happy

watching my family dine from my wheel thrown crockery.

Through the use of layers, resists, and split-fountains, I tend to glaze pots like a printmaker.

Every kiln firing is unique—chance encounters with wind, dust, and other unforeseen elements…so, for luck, I whisper to the kiln, requesting blessings. A kiln is opened, pots are born, transmogrified mud, vitrified to last eternity... worthy or not.

Joyfully unpredictable, unanticipated visions of an artful life, of perfect imperfection; a life of love and beauty.
