Lynn Weiler Liverton
Artist Bio
Lynn Liverton is a traditional figurative and contemporary mixed media sculptor living in Kailua, Hawaii. After working professionally as an Architect for four years, she became interested in sculpture while designing cast bronze hardware for a project entry. Eventually succumbing to the pull of the artistic call, Lynn earned her MFA in Sculpture from the University of Hawaii.
Liverton created many works in mixed media featured in art exhibitions nationally and was awarded Best in Show 3-D in two nationally recognized exhibitions. Bronze: life-sized and monumental works make up the bulk of Liverton’s public art commissions. The war memorial “United in Sacrifice” has been duplicated two times; six life-sized figures of Army soldiers reflect at the site of a soldier’s cross. This memorial has been placed in Hawaii, Michigan, and the National US Infantry Museum in Georgia.
Recently, Liverton unveiled a life-sized memorial statue of Thurgood Marshall in New York as well as a sculpture of a Hawaiian boy on her home Island of Oahu. Currently on view at the Maui Arts and Cultual Center is Liverton’s entry into the prestigious triennial Schaefer Portrait Challenge.
